II. Cách dùng động từ "tempt"
Mang nghĩa "xúi giục, khích, dụ dỗ, làm ai ghiền"
=to make someone want to have or do something, especially something that is unnecessary or wrong
IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:
- Tempt thường chia bị động
- be tempted to do something
- tempt someone into (doing) something
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:
- The shop windows were lit invitingly, tempting the late shoppers.
- ‘Do you want another drink?’ ‘I’m tempted.’
- Don’t be tempted to spend too much.
- You try to tempt the defender into making a tackle.
- I was sorely (=strongly) tempted to hit him.
- Unemployment undoubtedly increases the number of those tempted into crime.
- The programmes are designed to tempt young people into engineering.
