I. Cách dùng chung
IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:
- Dùng "who" với các chức năng như sau:
- Dùng như đại từ để hỏi trong câu hỏi trực tiếp & gián tiếp (question pronoun)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:
Who’s going to drive?
I wonder who they chose to be captain.
Who did you give the money to?
- Dùng như đại từ quan hệ
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:
- I want to speak to the person who deals with my account.
- She was with her husband, who I had already met.
- I don’t know who she is.
- Dùng như đại từ để hỏi trong câu hỏi trực tiếp & gián tiếp (question pronoun)
II. Trường hợp dùng "whom" thay "who"
IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:
- Khi đóng vai trò là chủ ngữ hoặc tân ngữ của động từ hoặc giới từ có thể dùng whom thay who trong cách nói FORMAL (who can be used as the subject or object of a verb or preposition)

- To whom did you speak? (ĐÚNG - FORMAL hơn)
- Who did you speak to? (ĐÚNG)
III. Cách dùng "who"tiếng anh
1. Mang nghĩa"ai; người nào"
=You use who in questions when you ask about the name or identity of a person or group of people.

- who else (=which other person)

- Who's there?
- Who is the least popular man around here?
- Who do you work for?
- The man /men who wanted to meet you (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Người/những người muốn gặp anh)
- The people who called yesterday want to buy the house (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Những người gọi điện hôm qua muốn mua ngôi nhà)
- Who do you suppose will replace her on the show?
- 'You reminded me of somebody.'—'Who?'
- Who else did you tell the secret to?
2. Mang nghĩa"trong mệnh đề xác định danh từ đứng trước"
=used for adding information that shows which person or type of person you are talking about.

- We only employ people who already have computer skills.
- We got the same answer from everyone who we spoke to.
- I think Bramwell was the one who first suggested the idea.
3. Mang nghĩa"trong mệnh đề không xác định danh từ đứng trước"
=used for adding more information about a person when it is already clear which person you are talking about I recently talked to

- Michael Hall, who lectures in music at the university.
- My wife, who is out at the moment, will phone you when she gets back (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Vợ tôi, lúc này không có nhà, sẽ gọi điện thoại cho anh khi cô ấy trở về)
- Mr Smith, who has a lot of teaching experience, will join us in the spring (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Ông Smith, người có rất nhiều kinh nghiệm giảng dạy, sẽ đến với chúng ta vào mùa xuân)
- I want you to meet my friend Marjorie, who I think I mentioned in my last letter.
