1. Mang nghĩa "vai trò, vị trí"
=the purpose or influence of someone or something in a particular situation
IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:
- role in
- play a role
- role of
- role as
- role of somebody/something as something
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:
- It’s not my role to tell the politicians what to do.
- We expect parents to have a key role in this discussion.
- Trade unions have played a significant role in the recent debate.
- The book examines the role of food and drink in society.
- He appreciates your role. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Anh ấy đánh giá cao vai trò của bạn)
- Why is the role vacant? (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Tại sao vị trí này bỏ trống?)
- He always fills the role. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Bao giờ anh ta cũng chu toàn nhiệm vụ)
- The banks developed a new role as providers of financial services.
- He is stepping down from his role as chair.
- The company has cemented its role as a leader in the industry.
- Thomas downplays the role of these letters as historical evidence.
2. Mang nghĩa "vai diễn"
=the character played by a particular actor in a film, play etc

- leading/starring role (=the most important role)
