II. Cách dùng
1. Mang nghĩa "để, đặt"
1.1. Nghĩa đen
Mang nghĩa "đặt cái gì đó lên 1 cái gì đó"
=to put something somewhere, especially in a careful or deliberate way

- Ella placed the dish on the table.
- ‘Don’t worry,’ said Judy, placing a hand on his shoulder.

1.2. Nghĩa bóng
Đặt ai vào hoàn cảnh nào đó khó chịu / Đặt trách nhiệm
=to put someone in a particular situation or state, especially a difficult or unpleasant one / if you place limits, responsibilities, pressures etc on someone, you make them experience them

1.2. Mang nghĩa "đưa vào làm, đặt vào (cương vị công tác)"
1.2.1. Bổ nhiệm / Đặt ai vào tầm quản lý, che chở
=to put a person or place under someone else’s control or protection

=to find someone a job

1.3. Mang nghĩa "có thái độ...về..."
=to have a particular attitude towards someone or something

1.4. Mang nghĩa "đánh giá, so sánh cái gì hơn cái gì"
=to decide how good or important something is in comparison with other things

1.5. Mang nghĩa "đặt hàng"
=to arrange to get something by telling someone who will supply it

- I placed an order for three CDs.
III. Cấu trúc thường dùng
1. be placed first/second: đứng nhất/...
=to finish in first/second etc position
2. place an advertisement, bet, order, etc
=to arrange to have an advertisement, bet, order, etc.

- We placed the order for the furniture six weeks ago.
- They were placing bets (= gambling) on who would win.
3. place emphasis, importance, etc. on sth
=to give something emphasis, importance, etc.
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:
- She placed the emphasis on the word "soon" in order to make sure was understood.
- He placed importance on a comfortable lifestyle (= it was important to him).
