I. shelter vừa là ngoại động từ, vừa là nội động từ

II. Cách dùng
1. Mang nghĩa "che (mưa, gió..)"
=to protect yourself, or another person or thing, from bad weather, danger, or attack
( + from ) tìm chỗ ẩn náu; tìm chỗ nương tựa
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:
- We were caught in a thunderstorm, without anywhere to shelter.
- A group of us were sheltering from the rain under the trees.
- to shelter someone from the rain (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: che cho ai khỏi mưa)
- to shelter under a trees (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: trú dưới các cây)
- to shelter from the rain (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: trú mưa)
2. Mang nghĩa "cho ( ai/cái gì) chỗ ẩn náu"
=to give someone a secret hiding place so that they will not be caught by the army, police, etc.
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ:
- the wall sheltered the soldiers from gunfire bức tường che chắn đạn cho những người lính
- Local people risked their own lives to shelter resistance fighters from the army.
