I. Dùng "some"như hạn định từ (determiner)
1. Mang nghĩa"một vài"
=used with uncountable nouns or plural countable nouns to mean ‘an amount of’ or ‘a number of’, when the amount or number is not given/used to refer to certain members of a group or certain types of a thing, but not all of them

- There's some milk in the fridge.
- Have some more vegetables.
- Some people find this more difficult than others.
- Some people never seem to put on weight while others are always on a diet.
- I like some modern music (= but not all of it).
- You left some money on the table (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: cậu đã để quên một ít tiền trên bàn)
- Would you like some milk in your tea? (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: anh muốn cho một tí sữa vào trà hay không?)
- It was with some surprise that I heard the news.
- We've known each other for some years now.
- We're going to be working together for some time (= a long time).
- There is some hope that things will improve.
2. Mang nghĩa"một lượng không xác định"
=used with singular nouns to refer to a person, place, thing or time that is not known or not identified

- There must be some mistake. He's in some kind of trouble.
- She won a competition in some newspaper or other.
- I'll see you again some time, I'm sure.
II. Dùng "some"như đại từ (pronoun)
Mang nghĩa"một vài, một ít (người, cái gì)"
=used to refer to an amount of something or a number of people or things when the amount or number is not given/a part of the whole number or amount being considered

III. Dùng "some"như trạng từ (adv)
1. Mang nghĩa"xấp xỉ"
=used before numbers to mean ‘approximately’

- Some thirty people attended the funeral.
- I have kept birds for some 30 years.
- He waited some 80 to 100 yards from the big pink villa.

2. Mang nghĩa"đến một chừng mực nào đó; một tí; hơi"
=to some degree
