I. Sơ lược & Hướng dẫn cách làm bài IELTS Listening Section 2

Được coi ở mức độ khó thứ 2 trong 4 section trong kỹ năng nghe, section 2 cũng được xếp vào hàng ngũ những câu dễ ăn điểm. Đối với section 2 này, chỉ cần chăm chút rèn luyện và nắm vững cách làm của các dạng câu hỏi thì các bạn hoàn toàn có thể ẵm luôn cả 10 câu rồi.

Section 2 lại là 1 cơ hội để các bản cải thiện điểm số Listening của mình, bởi độ khó thấp hơn 2 phần sau. Phần 2 chưa động với các lĩnh vực chuyên biệt nhiều mà chủ yếu mang tính giới thiệu, hướng dẫn, chỉ đường – những chủ đề sử dụng các từ vựng gần gũi. Chính vì vậy, làm chủ được "Section 2" Sẽ giúp các bạn vững tâm hơn khi làm những phần sau nhé!

Các nội dung của phần thi này thường là các tình huống giới thiệu hay hướng dẫn về một địa điểm hoặc chỉ đường. So với section 1, tốc độ nói trong phần này có nhanh hơn một chút, đồng thời các từ và câu cũng ít nhiều được paraphrase, nên việc theo dõi bài cần một sự tập trung nhất định.

Section 2 được chia làm 2 phần nghe, vì vậy các bạn nên cố gắng đọc kĩ hơn các thông tin, đồng thời dự đoán cách paraphrase của các thông tin trước khi bắt đầu.

Đặc biệt cần nắm vững các cụm từ chỉ đường đi và hướng đi, các giới từ chỉ vị trí để dễ nắm bắt bài nghe.

Cách thức làm bài

Bước 1. Đọc đề bài để xem số từ cần điền (phần luôn được viết in hoa trong đề bài – NO MORE THAN … WORD(S))

Bước 2: Đọc và gạch chân keywords

  • Dạng bản đồ: dạng bản đồ có ít từ nên dễ theo dõi. Các bạn nên chú ý

+ Vị trí bắt đầu/ vị trí đang đứng

+ Các con đường, tòa nhà đã có tên sẵn trong bài

  • Dạng điền từ: Các bạn nên chú ý tới các động từ, danh từ như một thông tin quan trọng trong bài. Lưu ý rằng keywords không nên gạch quá 3 từ.

Bước 3. Xác định dạng từ cần điền

  • Dựa vào từ liền trước và liền sau để đoán dạng từ (danh, động, tính, trạng từ)
  • Đối với danh từ, các bạn cần chú ý xem có nên thêm s/es không, dựa vào mạo từ a/an/the để xác định số ít/ số nhiều

Bước 4. Tập hợp synonyms

 

Các bạn nên tìm các synonyms của các từ trong bài trước khi nghe.

Vì là một phần nghe tạo cơ hội cho các bạn lấy điểm, nên đề thi sẽ không đánh đố nhiều tới mức các bạn phải paraphrase hoàn toàn. Chỉ cần thay thế một số từ vựng trong đề bài như một cách dự đoán bài nói và dễ theo dõi thông tin hơn.

Bước 5. Nghe thật kĩ, cố gắng pick cho được keywords trong đoạn băng sau đó tập trung kĩ vào câu hỏi và từ mình cần điền

II. Các dạng câu hỏi thường gặp trong IELTS Listening Section 2

DẠNG 1: Labeling a Map/ Diagram

Với dạng này có một số bạn kêu than về khả năng sử dụng bản đồ của mình, các bạn không thể xác định phương hướng khi nhìn vào bản đồ và do vậy khó khăn này cũng đeo bám các bạn trong cả khi làm bài kỹ năng nghe. Nếu bạn rơi vào trường hợp này, hãy thận trọng theo dõi chỉ dẫn trong bài ghi âm và chú ý vào các khu vực cho sẵn để xác định phương hướng, bạn sẽ có 30s để quan sát trước khi bước vào bài nghe, vậy nên đối với dạng câu hỏi này, đừng bao giờ bỏ phí 30s, nếu không bạn sẽ rơi vào rắc rối lớn dấy.

Trong dạng câu hỏi này, bạn sẽ cần điền 1 từ hoặc 1 cụm từ phù hợp (có thể từ danh sách cho sẵn). Dạng bài này sẽ khá dễ ăn điểm cao nếu ban quan sát maps kỹ lưỡng và xác định được phương hướng đã cho.
