Chuyên đề 1

Bài tập 1

Question 1-4

Question 1: HOWARD

Question 2: visa

Question 3: Jan

Question 4: Wednesday

Male (M): I lost 2 credit cards. One is visa, the other one is master card. What can I do?

Female (F): Don’t worry. What’s your name, please?

F: Do you know the number of the lost cards, sir?

M: Yes, I wrote them down her.

The visa is 6091 1313 9781 0231. And the master card is number 7228 6718 7217 5059.

M: Here you are.

F: Thank you. Please come by the office on Wednesday so that we can issue 2 new cards.

Two types of PhD:

Finding an academic to supervise your research proposal:

1. access to information

2. shift in demand

3. adapt our skills

4. digital world

I agree that the speaker's pronunciation of words like 'access' is a little tricky if you're not used to the NZ

1. access to information

2. shift in demand

3. adapt our skills

4. digital world

Chuyên đề 5

1. specific, hiring manager

2. personality, level of interest

3. dynamic (yet dynamic không điền chữ yet vô ), urge, dive

Chuyên đề 6

time intensive (because it is unbelievably Time Intensive)

Chuyên đề 7

1. meeting

2. lecturers

3. small (And a seminar ... you meet the small groups)

4. range (range of ideas... things more in detail)

5. mixture

6. vary (Depending on your course, the number of people in lectures may vary)

7. theatre / theater (British / US)

8. Varies

1. sponge ( act like a sponge to other toxins)

2. toxins

3. flame

4. break (molecules that body cannot fully break down)

5. cross

6. Immunity

The first problem

(Plagiarism can be defined as the use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author, and the representation of them as one's own original work. With the accessibility of the material through internet, students can plagiarise by copying and pasting information from other sources. This is often easily detected by teachers for several reasons. First, student's choices of sources are frequently unoriginal, instructors may receive the same passage copied from a popular source from several students. Second, it's often easy to tell whether the students used their own voice. Third, students may choose sources which are inappropriate, off-topic or contain incorrect information. Fourth, lecturers may insist a submitted work is first submitted to an online plagiarism detector. In the academic world, plagiarism by students is a very serious offence which can result in punishments such as failing the particular assignments or even the whole course module. For cases of repeated plagiarism, or for cases in which students commit severe plagiarism, for instance, submitting a copy piece of writing as original work, a student may be suspended or expelled. In many universities, academic degrees or awards may be revoked as a penalty for plagiarism.)

2. leadership

3. draw, profit, family

(I wanted to spend a little bit of time today talking about the importance of work experience as you're considering different management programmes. Now this will vary a lot school by school. So some schools actually will have a minimum number of years of required work experience, so you should enquire with all the schools that you are interested in, sort of, what their recommendations are.

At Stanford specifically, we don't necessarily look at a certain number of years of work experience, but what we’re really looking for are your leadership examples that you’re able to draw from in your life. And as a result, some people actually come to us a little bit earlier on in their careers.

So, most years we might even have, you know, one or two students who come directly after university, but they’ve got incredibly strong leadership examples to draw from: maybe it is from being involved in student government, or clubs, or organisations, or starting a non-profit organisation, or having been involved in a family business growing up. So they’re able to draw and refer to those leadership experiences in the classroom)
